PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA, May 2, 2016 – Vistas for Children, Inc., a respected philanthropic organization composed of women volunteers from the South Bay, held their annual golf tournament at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Seventy eight golfers came out to play on an ideal Palos Verdes day. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit South Bay children’s charities.

This year’s event was chaired by Vistas members Cindy Percz, Tricia Hawkins, and Helaine Lopes, all current Vistas for Children board members.

The Hawaiian-themed day began with a continental breakfast and putting contest. After a shotgun start, players enthusiastically hit the course for 18 holes of golf. Unique to Vistas’ golf tournament are their pubs. Each pub, staffed by Vistas members and decorated Hawaiian style, offered golfers a respite from the sun with refreshing drinks and snacks. A white Audi A4 was strategically parked at the hole-in-one for extra incentive to make the shot.

golf20162A cocktail party, silent auction, and Rum tasting followed the tournament. After the run tasting, guests were treated to a hula show of traditional dancers. During dinner, awards were given to the contest and tournament winners. The foursome of Steve Hunt, Jonathan Hathaway, Matt Misitich and Dane Lupe won first place in the tournament. Prizes were awarded for second and third place, longest drive, closest to the pin, and the putting contest. Vistas golf chairperson, Tricia Hawkins member won the longest drive, and vistas member, Madeline Jordan won the putting contest. Live auction winners took home incredible adventure packages including vacations to Hawaii and Palm Desert, becoming a jet fighter pilot for a day, and elegant cocktail parties.

Vistas President, Pam Branam, declared the day, “perfect.” She said, “I continue to be amazed by our community. These golfers came together, had a lot of fun, and did not forget for a moment that they were here to help South Bay children. They were incredibly generous with sponsorships and in their very competitive bidding for silent and live auction items. Vistas is forever grateful.”

Vistas also thanks the following sponsors for making the day possible: U.S. Air Tool Company, Visionarie Lighting, Inc, Steven McClintock from LAcarGUY, PDM, LLP Certified Public Accountants, Momentum Engineering Corp., Karen and Mike Melideo, S-Cubed Capital, and Wells Fargo Capital Finance.
